I pretty much purchased this laptop to have a new laptop that could run Windows 8 and boasted 16GB or more RAM. I mainly use apps such as Photoshop and Dreamweaver on this laptop and they load and run painlessly in comparison to my last laptop which was Windows XP with 4GB RAM and a 2.3GHz processor.
I seldom use the Turbo mode. Almost everything I do is done in the power saving mode and overall the Laptop is performing really well.
The only issue I have had so far as that the Wi-Fi connection frequently dies. I assume this only happens in the power saving mode. Switching the Laptop to Airplane mode and then back usually fixes the issue.
Apart from that, no issues whatsoever. A good purchase and good value for money in my opinion.

I'll probably look back in a few years and think this review was awfully quaint, but right now this thing is just awesome. It's made my desktop PC completely redundant. I can run Skyrim with loads of mods on max settings at 1920x1080 with no framerate issues at all. I was a bit worried about Windows 8 at first, but it's fine once you get used to it - basically Windows 7 with a consumer-friendly skin. A bit annoying that some admin tasks take longer than they used to. One weird thing - out of the box, the trackpad will switch off whenever you're holding a key so you can't walk and move your head at the same time. The driver that comes with it isn't capable of disabling that feature and you have to download a different driver and set a registry key to change it. That seems totally bonkers to me on a gaming laptop - ok, gamers will mostly use mice, but sometimes you want to sit and mess around with a bit of minecraft or whatever... anyway, it's resolvable (as long as they don't take away the option in a later driver). The trackpad is probably the worst thing about the machine, but once you have it set right (i.e. all the gestures disabled!), it's fine. If it had a couple of SSDs it'd be perfect, but it's at an optimal point in the price curve, expensive, but a bargain for what you get. If you're after a gaming machine but can't quite stretch to the price of MSI or Alienware, you won't regret buying this.

I bought this machine after trawling through the many favourable reviews - it's every bit up to expectations.
Gorgeous screen - not too reflective even in bright light. Very fast - I needed it for some heavy apps, not games. I do a fair bit of graphics/photographic processing, so use Photoshop, Dreamweaver and create lots of long technical documents in Word, along with PDF editing (company brochures and the like) - you get the picture...
This is one well sorted machine - it came with Windows 8, but that's OK...and acres of RAM and disk storage. I bought it to replace my trusty old IBM T43p (of which I have three, all now seven years old and still running fine...) .
My only regret is the screen resolution is only 1920 x 1080 - my Thinkpads had 1600x1200, which was perfect for my work. I really could use those extra pixels...
Anyway, a dream machine - highly recommended!
