Customer Reviews: Samsung Series 7 Chronos 780Z5E 15.6-inch Touchscreen Laptop (Silver) - (Intel Core i5 3230M 2.6GHz Processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, LAN, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Radeon Graphics, Windows 8)
Firstly this is the best looking laptop I've come across, really solidly built.
It is early doors but the battery life seems outstanding compared to my old Asus.
The screen is to die for, the bezel is really thin and the and the glass front just makes it look ultra modern. It's meant to be anti glare, I'm not sure if this is true as it's quite reflective on a bright, sunny day.
I'd agree with other users that it takes a while to set up out of the box, I think this is more to do with Win 8 than the actual laptop. I now have it set up as I want it and am really pleased with the way it's functioning. It did need over 50 Windows updates straight out of the box.
I don't use the tracker pad as I prefer a wireless mouse so haven't even tried to use it.
I really like the backlit keyboard, it's a feature I wasn't expecting and it's surprising how useful it can be.
Be warned this does not have a CD/Blu-ray drive, again this doesn't bother me as this is the way of the future. All the media services I use are subscription/streaming so this isn't an issue for me. I use Office 365, download my Adobe software and use Netflix/Xbox Music etc.
In summary it's a powerful, stunning looking laptop with a few set up niggles. If truth be told it would have scored 4 out the box but a 6 for looks and functionality :-)
Update - Had a few issues that have been resolved by updating the AMD Graphics driver and Intel Wireless Card. The graphics driver was causing Outlook 2013 to crash on start up (fixed by update from AMD website). Wireless was dropping out intermittently (fixed by update). Hope this helps anyone with the same issues. Apart from these niggles the laptop is proving a dream to use.
