super cool upgrade to my old black macbook. migration assistant made loading software easy.
initially wanted a 27inch imac, but realised couldnt live without portability. so got macbook pro and dell screen. best of both worlds.
battery life is not quite up to advertised 7hrs, found a few posts on updating PRAM settings which ill try.
flash storage is WAY quicker than harddisk,
definitely happy to have bought MBP retina and a cheap amazon dvd drive than the macbook pro with dvd... its a big weight saving for a laptop.

This is my first Mac. After many years using a PC I decided to take the plunge and spend the extra money. So far it would appear to be money well spent. I have had to spend some time getting used to it and migration assistant didn't work for me in transferring files but that aside I am very pleased with the design & build quality, the stunningly crisp display and the speed. The battery life takes some beating especially after being used to PC laptop batteries that are flat within a couple of hours. I'm glad that I went for the 256Gb storage as that should keep me going for a good while. Even with all the files transferred from my old PC I still have a good 200Gb left. The delivery was very good. I placed the order on the Monday evening & the Macbook was with me on the Wednesday morning. The price made things all the sweeter saving over £250 off the RRP and avoiding the dreaded Mac tax. What else - oh yes, slim lightweight & quiet. I can't hear the fans at all but when you do want it to make a noise the speakers are amazing for a machine of this size. All in all I am very pleased and as I learn more about it I'm sure that it will grow on me more and more.

Lightweight, beautiful screen. Supplier provided it promptly and at low cost. One problem - power supply failed but a quick trip to an Apple Store fixed that.
